NASA
Objectives

  • Improve life here, Extend life to there, and Find life beyond, as only NASA can.
  • The development of devices that can detect single molecules of nucleic acids, decode DNA sequence variations in the genome of any organism, and apply functional genomic assays to determine molecular information processing functions in model organisms, such as yeast  Saccharomyces cerevisiae , fruit fly  Drosophila melanogaster , nematode  Caenorhabditis elegans , plant  Arabidopsis thaliana , mouse  Mus musculus , and in human  cells.
  • Support NASA research objectives of the Center for Nanotechnology , Fundamental Space Biology Program , and Astrobiology Institute  with state-of-the-art genomic technology and computational bio-informatics.
  • Develop partnerships with universities   to advance bio-technology education.
  • Develop partnerships with business enterprise to commercialize genomic and computational bio-informatics technology.
